Quoiting refers to a traditional game where players throw rings called Quoits at a target typically a steak or pin from a set distance. The game is also known as Kiteing. It involves both strength and skill with the goal being to land the Quoit as close to or encircling the target as possible. Quoiting was particularly popular in mining communities in Scotland with various local and regional variations.
Quoiting was played in Stewarton usually by the local farmers and "meets" were held in what is now the car park for St Columbas Church behind the Fire Station
